Excellent succinct article. The "journalists " at ABC News Limited should hand back their union accreditation. They seem to be either out of their depth or near retirement fossils. Terrible. Can't bear to listen these days.
I'm sure it has been brought up by others but why isn't ASIO Mike Burgess also being questioned on ASIO failure in regard to the murder of the two Victorian Police officers? It is shocking. Why haven't they gathered intelligence on that group's activity? Burgess seems more interested in political side shows . This is massive failure and clearly an incorrect allocation of available resources.
Thankyou, once again, Amy for offering an informed article. Our media in Australia is incapable of asking questions. You not only do, but you have some knowledge of the history of circumstances.
I am curious about the young man who attempted to set fire to the synagogue door in Melbourne. It was reported that he was from Toongabbie, a suburb in Sydney where there are many people from the subcontinent, especially Sri Lanka. Some are in refugee limbo, some are living on the rungs of our precarious visa system and some have citizenship. I was unaware that there were Iranians living in the suburb, but was aware there were Muslims living in Toongabbie because I had shopped at a halal butcher opposite a very good Sri Lankan grocery.
My question remains, however. Why would an Iranian, presumably a refugee, travel to Melbourne to try to set fire to a Synagogue? Was he so upset by the Netanyahu government dropping bombs on Iran to kill Iranians, some of whom were significant officials, that he decided to wage war against worshiping Jews in Australia?
I await an investigative journalist to find out if he were an Islamist or a refugee terrified of the long and cruel arm of the Iranian government.
It's been since revealed that he was homeless and didn't know it was a synagogue. Police sources I spoke to at the time of the incident said they couldn't quite get his motive. None of this, of course, Jacinta Allan and much of mainstream media from whipping up a frenzy to justify a further push against protests and free speech.
I just love Amy’s writing. Simple ,articulate and so many truth bombs dropped. She just makes it make sense. Thankyou.
