Following statements by the Australian government today, this excellent article has become an essential reference.
Penny Wong, Australia's foreign minister, says the government considered legal advice before inviting Herzog to Australia. What parallel universe do these legal advisors occupy? Certainly not one informed by human rights and international law.
Aah, the complete moral collapse (thanks, Tim Dunlop) of the Australian Labor government...
It is reported that NSW Labor MLCs Cameron Murphy, Stephen Lawrence and Sarah Kaine will attend Monday evening’s rally organised by Palestine Action Group as part of a nationwide protest.
Australia was in a position to stand up for the oppressed the voiceless, as Albo did before he became PM.
Australia stood up against apartheid in South Africa.
This current government has done the opposite to truth, it stands with an apartheid entity, it stands for genocide in Gaza.
This government allows Australians to take part in a genocide, it welcomes Herzog ,this government says nothing when a whole country is annihilated, when healthcare workers, aid workers, teachers, education systems, journalists etc are murdered and actively being currently genocided in a ceasefire.
"Condemnation" is NOT action. Words are not action. Action speaks louder than words, and to date the action is Herzog is welcome, but marches against an ongoing genocide are "hate speech".
Where is the "Social cohesion" that the government asks for, when one part of society is silenced?
Where is the justice for the indigenous of this land and the Palestinians of Palestine.?
What state of Palestine does this government support?
Herzog will likely use his powerful status to fundraise for sanctionable activities as well- illegal outposts, widespread demolitions and resale of land, supporting those who perpetrate violence on Palestinians, supposedly the people his occupying state is meant to protect.
He is here ostensibly to normalise Israel and fundraise, and the Australian Government is supporting both.
This constitutes by Albanese and co material support for a genocide not only through political cover and moral encouragement, but enabling violence and destruction.
Excellent article, compelling arguments. Thank you.
I’m cutting and pasting bits of your text onto my IG & FB stories because you have articulated this hideous situation really well thank you

Was the last paragraph really needed in this debate.
