No surprise. The National Press Club is a disgrace. Those journalists who are members should be ashamed of themselves. They have completely betrayed their murdered colleagues and rolled over for tummy tickles from their masters. What a farce corporate media is in this country.
The National Press Club of Australia lists 81 corporate sponsors on its website. It is outrageous that 21 of them are either part of the global arms industry or actively working on its behalf. Last year (after Chris Hedges speech was cancelled) Michelle Fahy at 'Undue Influence' asked the Press Club’s CEO, Maurice Reilly, what written policies or guidelines were in place that addressed the suitability and selection of corporations proposing to become Press Club sponsors. Mr Reilly responded: “The board are informed monthly about…proposals and have the right to refuse any application.”

You just have to look at the list of sponsors to understand how deeply embedded the NPC is within the military-industrial-financial complex.
The reputation of the NPC is in ruins after the invitation to have the Israeli Ambassador as a guest speaker.
