No excuses now for not having a super profits tax. Reaping billions from chaos and death in the middle East while normal Australians suffer a triple hit through petrol prices, inflation and interest rates. We must also accelerate the electrification of our land transport sector.
It is wild to think that taxing something that is so profitable would stall investment….when have capitalists ever turned away from such easy money? You could triple the tax and they’d still be making more profit than before they’d be stupid not to continue?
Just another reason why we don’t actually live in any kind of true democracy - the economy is political and yet the political decisions made about the economy are made by unelected business executives
