What stops this govt from tax reform? This is not new information and yet we still have a govt that cowers to these entities. Despite having a super majority in the HoR, Capt Capitulation (Albo) stated he wasn't going to be the PM who does any major reform..is this pure cowardice or a man who is more interested in retaining power over good governance.? So sick of the piss poor govt.

Unfortunately, Australia 🦘 and 🌍 follow the USA. That is how it works.

The USA has powerful lobbyists that influence government policy, laws, & decisions on behalf of oligarchy groups, corporations, and even foreign nations. These lobbyists squeeze politicians on both sides of the aisle via financial bribes, blackmail, or threats.

Here are some of them:

Israel

Big Oil (anti green energy)

Medical industry

Pharmaceutical industry

Insurance industry

Banks

Mlitary Industrial Complex

Big tech

Agribuisnesses

These groups create policies to prevent green energy, to cut taxes to billionaires, and to put Israel first. US citizens don't matter.

This is true for Australians too. We are far, far down the relevance hierarchy and brainwashed by oligarchy owned media.

Yes! It's also very telling when the reserve bank tells us the economy needs higher unemployment but gov still refuses to raise the rate and now we are finding that these people are dying earlier (gee who knew that poverty kills)...

Cuts to the NDIS and aged care to fund the military industrial complex....

Government no longer even pretending to give a shit about regular people, let alone the most vulnerable.

It's the whole 'it's a big club and we ain't in it'

I think we need to bring back the term 'social murder' to describe these policies and systems.

Good idea! Per the ATO’s own transparency data, Santos went 10 years straight without paying a cent of company tax, on almost $47 billion in sales.

The oil giant has “hundreds of subsidiaries” with more than a dozen in “known [overseas] tax havens”.

Santos uses this complicated web to borrow money from itself “for profitshifting and tax minimisation”.

And us Aussie mugs must pay full tax!
