I need to make a meme of this quote

“That also underpins her longevity: she promises nothing – and she delivers it.”

(Deepcut News Jeff Sparrow Nov 6 2026)

from the article!!!! Thankyou Jeff. Agree that Australian Colony must reconcile with true history of this continent if we are to move past the ridiculous cultural wars over Flag,; 26/1; treaty, voice, stolen land, settler genocide, continuing cultural genocide …

'Pauline Hanson predates by decades the current global wave of right-wing populism.' Yes Hanson is and always was the racist heart of many now ruling what remains of the Liberal party after Howard gutted it.

Howard used her in 1996 to unlock the then unacceptable racist element within the party and its supporters, and declared that 'free speech' meant that such views 'were a good thing'.

Trump is thus a perfect parallel with Hanson: she embraces Hard Right economic 'benefit the rich' policies derived from Hugh Morgan and Murdoch with their random flexible racism directed at whomsoever they/she deems the Target of the Moment. They/ She have no solutions, merely tactics: helping the rich and monstering everyone they/she considers 'other'. Hanson and Trump are mere tools of the same entitled cabal, and yes dismantling her will require more work. Trump has ten years in power and he is not done yet.

Well said. And! Hanson has not been the country’s leader as yet, so she can’t be blamed for the current living standards crisis for the average Australian, can’t lose her position as a prime minister because it hasn’t happened yet and therefore, is still a danger to Australia in every aspect. She still has time to appeal to the undereducated, the ignorant and disenchanted. Especially, with the shameful stare the current government has driven this country to regarding economy, employment and social division by sucking up to the Zionists. A comparison with Trump is silly and premature.

Elizabeth Chandler's avatar

You make very good points , but behind it all , this government’s grovelling to every demand of both Trump and Zionist lobby groups is very much in the mix . ( See the consequences , world wide of Trump’s Iran War 🙄)

I don't agree that the surge in One Nation vote is due to covid. If there had been such massive resentment from covid, surely the 2022 Victorian election would have been the election that swept away the ALP Government. Instead, Andrews was returned with a massive increased majority. The ON vote only seemed to start increasing after Trump won the 2024 election. (in Jan 25, Roy Morgan had ON at 4.5%, by the end of the year, it had increased to 15.5%)

Personally, I think most of the anti Government feelings at the moment come from cost of living pressures and the immense disappointment that Governments appear to have stopped listening to people and prefer to listen to lobby groups backing gambling/fossil fuel/defense/Israel/AI etc.. It is laughable that ON complain about the cost of living issue while they cheer on the Iran war that has seen fuel prices climb up to 60% since the start of the year

The US midterms appear to have been a huge repudiation of the right wing in the USA and sent a new very diverse range of people to fill Government positions. The apparent rejection of Trumps anti DEI campaign could affect ON

However, ON has positions on some issues that are opposite to those of Trump. For example, while Trump has been a huge supporter of AI and data centres, ON has seized on community anger over data centres to help boost its support in areas like western Melbourne and wants data centres much more regulated

Debora Campbell's avatar

Hilarious that PH has taken a position opposed to data centres. My advice is: wait five minutes and she will revise that stand and begin to promote [mythical] employment opportunities and the need to compete and beat China on AI by cosying up [further] to the US tech bros.

She is now, and has always been, nothing more than a working class mouth piece for the Entitled Cabal [EC] which devised the sinister Right wing agenda in the 1960s and 70s. See Hugh Morgan and Rupert Murdoch tutoring Howard, who then used PH to liberate the until-then closeted racists inside the Liberal party, and implement his 'privatise-everything' agenda. No shade between them then, and PH now.

Meanwhile the gutless Albanese government literally creates new and angry voters for PH by dealing with every every-day problem people are experiencing, and getting angry and frustrated about, by digitising it. Age care, childcare, healthcare, employment 'services' have all removed the human from human services, thus leaving people confronting an algorithm. He has then put in charge people like the rightwing hack Sam Rae, who was installed into Parliament after a short 'career' learning the lessons of PwC and all the other fee-for-ripoff-government' services industry.

Rae and the rest speak only management weasel words and create robot-debt-like processes, which leave people floundering in a digital morass literally designed to not help them and thus to 'save' money.

Money by the way that Albanese and Marles then spend on AUKUS - a series of contracts that as Peter Garrett has pointed out, a first year law student would know never to sign.

So there we have it: PH is the mere tool of the Old Guard rightwing EC - a ginger-haired ginger-er of discontent and anger.

She is only the Second Coming though; the EC's first utensil was John Howard himself - a not very intelligent but extremely tenacious wannabe seeking the approbation of the real Money and Class.

Both of them seek little beyond their own power, rooted as it is in their capacity to energise division, anger, and resentment in Australians, all the while enriching the already disgustingly wealthy at the expense of all of us.

Elizabeth Chandler's avatar

The placing of “newbie” Sam Rae in this particular portfolio has been from the start an assault against every member of the public

that his Ministry is supposed to SERVE . The cynicism of it , and the insult to the voters’ intelligence is despicable .

Another point , I agree 💯 re “no shade between Howard and PH then and now “.

Every word you say , throughout your post is 💯 correct , including their unforgivable , carefully constructed “weasel words”.

This government has plummeted the “Labor Party “ into a deep hole of betrayal of Australians , and they are continuing to dig deeper , as they pursue their personal power . Poor fellow our country .

Debora Campbell's avatar

thanks Elizabeth and honestly every single time I get frustrated and fail to achieve anything in dealing with the digital world, I think of those without English as a first language and at least broadly functional digital skills trying wrestle with this algorythmic morass. If it is true that some migrants are counterintuitively appearing to support Hanson and her racism, this digital alienation, ostracisation, and effective expulsion might be at least part of the why?

Perhaps it is just another part of the big F**k you voters seem to be giving both major parties.

Elizabeth Chandler's avatar

I agree whole heartedly 👍🏻. As a technical dinosaur , beyond sending emails , comments etc, I suspect that governments , both state and federal rely deeply on the ignorance of voters ( wilful or otherwise ). How else can the MAGA support for Trump and ON be explained ? The weasel words of the likes of Albanese , Wong , Marles and Co , as they spew their meaningless , hollow rhetoric at press conferences is a considered insult to the public , and a demonstration of both their incompetence and and contempt .

Unforgivable.

G'day Deborah, you refer to Albanese as gutless but I believe that is a totally misunderstanding the role the ALP has played for capital during the first world war conscription referendum which Billy Hughes supported and actually split the party base and wider society generally. Curtin wholeheartedly supported the second world war and Chifley supported the attacks on North Korea and wholeheartedly supported the Korean war though by then Menzies won the December 1949 election and he was opposition leader. Many Australian soldiers were killed or were captured and suffered badly as POW, none of this benefited Australian workers. Is that gutless too Deborah?

Then Hawke and Keating forced through the Jobs and Income Accord which went on to lead to the reduction of wages and onto Howard's Individual agreements etc and to todays falling wages in the face of persistent elevated inflation, the Liberals in that era would never have been able to do this job on workers that the ALP did.

To refer to Albanese as gutless is the complete misunderstanding of the ALPs role they have played for Australia's capital over more than a century as well as US capital in supporting all war they have fought with the exception being Whitlam who is the outlier and the US played a role in his removal.

Academic research shows Hawke as ACTU leader fed information about ALP machinations to the US trade attache aka CIA, he was not the only ALP leader to do this as Curtin and other did it also in an earlier period and in response the Britian not coming to our aid around the period of the fall of Singapore and Churchill's refusal to release our troop to defend Australia but to keep them fight for Britian in Europe.

So to further repeat Albanese is not gutless but carrying out the role given him, look at Penny Wong's many speeches and her fiercely expressed opposition to AUKUS and the ANZUS as a whole but did a complete instantaneous backflip on coming into government as is de rigueur for satraps trying to disguise themselves in opposition or electioneering period.

So Albanese is doing his allotted job for capital and is most decidedly not gutless but treacherous, conniving, deceitful, dishones etc etc.

I wholeheartedly agree with your premise Deborah but wanted to add an analysis from a class based perspective to give a better understanding of Albanese role.

Elizabeth Chandler's avatar

“Treacherous , conniving , deceitful “ and more , I agree with . He is also spineless , and not a leader’s bootlace . Especially when compared with Gough Whitlam .

rakyat kecil's avatar

He actually has been a very successful leader if you look at it from his perspective, he came from the left of the ALP which is not usual in the past from where PMs came from, though I stand to be corrected.

He has just passed Chifleys period as leader to become second longest serving ALP PM and he could lead a coalition government similar to Gillard with the Greens or we will enter uncharted waters of a minority government.

Interesting times we live in Deborah hey!

.

Thanks for your thoughtful comment rakyat kecil and yes I know the ALP history too and yes agree most Labor leaders have played the capitalist game very well indeed - Lang apart perhaps? And of course it was that same game that caught Whitlam out via Connor - at least as far as the MSM was concerned - shock!

Still, I argue Albanese - knowing the EC game - [he studied political economy after all - and fought to keep it on the U of Syd curriculum] can be both complicit and gutless. You are right that he knows what Howard/Hanson EC game is doing and why - or we hope he does.

He is still gutless in that he is not even trying to be seen to be calling out and really fighting Howard/ Hanson. He tootles and faffs around Australia and the world sucking up to Trump - which even Praise Be the American people have stopped doing so slavishly.

If he was cleverly complicit - like Keating - he would at least be seen to be trying to be make Australia better in some way. Keating is complicit and smart - e.g. with Asian relationships, Mabo and the Redfern speech. Albo is not brave - or clever enough to do that. Gutless. And dumb. He Is literally creating Hanson voters daily, oh and alienating many of the rest of us with the parlous Segal appointment. WTFF.

rakyat kecil's avatar

Agree with you Deborah but would capital want it known that Hanson is only a cul de sac for disenfranchised workers etc. Look at Orban or even Vucic who actually sold or supplied Ukraine weapons to kill Russian but still had a colour revolution done on him because he was not 100% subservient or compliant.

Albanese is playing his role to a tee from capitals perspective and if and when the time comes for his defeat he will leave having been the satrap he is not the representative of Australian workers your definition of gutless is more fitting of.

If Albanese was to shout the truth from the rafters about Poorlines role of deflecting anger at the austerity and drive to war that is taking place in the USs satrapies then he would have himself marked as untrust worthy or like Whitlam not permitted to rule. Also the contradiction of the ALP and AUKUS plus speaking truth about ON is a very obvious oxymoron that would be rather difficult to reason away, easier to be silent. Retire without the grief of MSM besmirching his legacy being deficient as it is from our perspective but he will receive accolades at his time of choosing or the election he loses that is a given if he continues in a similar vein.

Today's precarious economic and geopolitical situation does not allow for the conniving Keating position after his job of imposing the neo liberal agenda on Australian workers that the Liberals were unable to do, Albanese does not have the liberty of pretending to be anything other that the outright satrap of the hegemon and carry out the drive to war with our major trading party as Europe did with China and Russia as their major energy supplier. Look at the depth of the EUs complicit decisions in the face of destruction of their nations manufacturing base and cost of living. We are in a nirvana compared to Europe at present but tomorrow who knows.

Now moving towards the end of his second term Albanese has done everything expected of him which was made explicit at the commencement if his first term and 200% guaranteed at this point in his second term.

This is why it is a waste of emotion to even refer to Albanese as gutless though sling off at him with my full consent.

Correct in every detail 💯. Australia’s level of racism extends from the landing in 1788, and includes the racism against the Irish , so many of whom came here as convicts . It has barely lessened , as we see today . Our Home Affairs Minister is taking great delight in reducing significantly the number of immigrants , and sending refugees to the dot in the Pacific Ocean known as Nauru , for 30 years

with no return possible . A demonstration of flagrant racism and inhumanity if ever there was one . This government is shaming our nation on a list of disgraceful errors of judgement and common decency . Being more than happy to ignore the genocide in Palestine

while grovelling to every demand from the Zionist “antisemitism envoy” , thus tossing away our sovereignty , is unforgivable.
