Chris Sidoti - Gaza death toll higher than official count

The UN Commissioner repeats his call for Australia to send the Israeli ambassador home

Chris Sidoti’s human rights career spans over four decades, including as the former Australian Human Rights Commissioner and currently as a UN Commissioner for the Occupied Palestinian Territory and Israel.

Sidoti served on the UN Commission of Inquiry that published a report in June detailing Israel’s deliberate targeting of Palestinian children in the ongoing genocide in Gaza.

We share some devastating case studies from that report, and go beyond to examine our state of the world and whether international law still has a role to play despite governments, including our own, disregarding it.

The conversation turns philosophical towards the end, where I ask Chris whether human civilisation has truly progressed, in light of our global descent into the abyss.
